These are hidden throughout the 14 themed zones that make up the gameworld, which Pikachu enters and searches with the aid of other Pokémon encountered. To get this aid Pikachu must make friends with these Pokémon. This is sometimes tied to combat, but is generally achieved by besting Pokémon in one of many mini-game style competitions, categorized as either attractions, skill games or cleaning duty. As is always the case in the  Pokémon  universe, all these Pokémon have different special skills and attributes. This is the point of befriending them, since once befriended players can utilize any  Pokémon  in mini-game play. Players can also upgrade certain skills by cashing in berries hidden throughout the game that serve as currency. Finally, players can utilize in-game photo functionality to capture moments from the game which can then be saved via Wii SD memory card functionality.
