Why do people say: “I trust my “gut feeling” in making decisions”? Or, “it just doesn’t “feel” right.” Be truthful, we all have said those phrases. Even when words are used to persuade, we rely on the emotional response. A classic case of verbal vs. nonverbal communication. Often verbal interaction loses to brain-controlled non verbal communication. Why? The words are congruent; in agreement; compatible. What does that mean? The definition: chosen words agree with the emotions or attitudes displayed by the nonverbal communication. You feel everything is truthful and honest. But why do you sometimes feel something “just isn’t right.” “I have a bad feeling about this.” The answer: the person’s gestures, postures, positions and distance do not support the spoken words.That “gut feeling” is the result of an emotion automatically identified by an experienced event taking place.
