What is champagne?

Champagne is a sparkling wine form the Champagne region of France.

Actually only the sparkling wine produce in champagne can have this name, otherwise you just call sparkling wine.

The romans were the first identifying the quality of the region to plant and produce vineyards, they knew what was good.

Nowadays there is more then one hundred Champagne houses, that are the big ones, and almost 20,000 smaller vine-growing producers.  

More than a old drink, champagne is elegant and a fresh drink, champagne is associated with status, luxury , money and power. Not all of them but brands Moët Chandon, are recognized with a luxury style of life.

This success is attributed for the genius marketing campaigns of the champagne producers.

The more important champagnes house start to promote this wine as something royal, rich, important, expensive and aristocratic.

That strategy made the champagne the symbol of celebration and status that is today.
